GREEN STREETS PARENT AND CHILD GROUP CELEBRATE SPRING!

Shown above is a picture of the wonderful Wriggly Worm draught excluders that were made by children at Chamber’s Farm Woods recently. The quirky draught excluders were made out of recycled materials. These will not only help keep homes snug, and more energy efficient, they will also help the group fundraise for Christian Aid’s renewable energy initiatives in Mali villages.

The Lincolnshire Waldorf Parent and Child group, who are one of a number of 0-5 yrs groups taking part in the Green Streets project, held an Easter bonanza in the woods on Sunday.  On top of families who are members of the group, all families from the Green Streets project were also invited to join the fun at Chamber’s Farm Woods near Wragby, which involved seasonal crafts, an Easter treasure hunt in the butterfly garden and woods, stalls to browse for grown-ups, and cakes galore for all ages!

The event had a ‘green’ theme, as there was a Bring and Buy stall: perfect way to recycle items, and a Tradecraft stall, with goods ethically produced and sourced.  Perhaps most importantly, getting young children into green spaces is one of the best ways to produce ‘eco-citizens’ of the future, fostering a love of the outdoors from an early age, and creating an awareness of our place in a beautiful, natural world.

Over £200 was raised for the Waldorf group at the event, which was an added bonus!
